Circuit, River and Zen

The Circuit

-----

First, there is The Truth. It's the reality, it's unknowable as a whole and as the universe, it is vast and beyond our understanding. It is a concept beyond comprehension and it's shapeless.

Then, there are two things to identify: One is the capacity for acquiring raw information from the environment, which we will call "Wisdom". The other is the capacity for processing such raw information into a mental object we can manipulate as a concept, i.e. "Understanding".

From here, we can appreciate another Truth: Physical truth. It's the polar opposite of the first Truth, which is entirely conceptual. This Physical Truth is where we learn about the Conceptual Truth, and the two are interconnected in ways that cannot be avoided. This is also where we enact our understanding of Truth.

From this point of view, ideally the mind implements understanding (or intellect) with wisdom, holding true to the True and unknowable nature of things.

The River

-----

Time is always flowing, we percieve it as linear because we see an end to our lives. This is an intellectualized concept and it's not part of the Universal Truth, which is both Physical and Conceptual Truths combined. It's Relative Truth, part of the illusion of the Self which comes after intellectualizing one's consciousness.

Time doesn't end, however. It flows on and on, and being present in the single moment you're in is a container for the Universe and all of its experience. The river is eternal. Appreciating it as it passes through without attaching to it or the temporary experiences it offers is what leads to Oneness.

Oneness is knowing and sensing by deep present experience that you are irrevocably in the Universe, and even your disappearance from it would have an impact. It guides into that kind of logic.

Oneness is in itself closer to The Truth than anything else, and as such is harder to percieve unless one is open in both wisdom and understanding.

Zen

-----

If you think you're being all Zen, you're not being Zen at all.

Zen comes from the mind.

No-mind contains nothing.

There is no Zen.

Zen will take you away from the Universe, unless you REALLY get it.

And to get it means not to get it.

So stop chasing enlightenment and go be enlightened.

We will ourselves out of enlightenment all the time.

But only because we want to.
